Pulsations in the Abdomen – Common Cause USMLE 1

harrissymptomsky · August 23, 2023 · Leave a Comment

Common cause of abdominal pulsation

The human heart, composed mostly of muscle tissue. It can pump blood through the human body for more than a 100 years.

This over here, leaving the heart, is the aorta, the largest artery of the human body, and all the blood through the aorta enters this opening over here, which is also the aorta, as the heart pumps the blood into the aorta, Normally, we should not feel the pulsation of the heart in the abdomen, but if there is an increase of pressurein the aorta, we might feel that pulsation.

And this increase of pressure in the aorta can happen for silly reasons, such as lifting our legs above the abdomen.
