Cycling Damaged Ulnar Nerve – Froment’s Sign Provocative Test

harrissymptomsky · August 7, 2023 · Leave a Comment

How can cycling damge ulnar nerves?

Did you ever ride your bike really fast with a lot of vibrations?

Well, I know I did.

It can be dangerous and slowly leave the fingers of our hands paralyzed.

The condition I am referring to is called Ulnar Nerve Syndrome.

This second simple test that can be performed is the Froman’s Sign Provocative Test.

It consists of trying to take away a piece of paper from the patient and patient is asked

to hold the paper tightly with his thumb.

So basically this way.

Now, the clinician would be trying to take the paper away from the patient and if the

patient cannot hold the paper and then compensates by flexing the thumb this way, well then the

test is positive.

tetani can cause

rigidity and spasms all over your body,

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Phalen’s and Tinel’s sign

harrissymptomsky · August 1, 2023 · Leave a Comment

What is carpal tunnel syndrome?

Do you ever experience tingling or numbness in your fingers and hand?

It could be that you’re suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome in which the median nerve is

affected. So there are two very simple clinical tests that we can do for carpal tunnel syndrome.

The median nerve can be found over here and it passes underneath the transverse carpal ligament

to supply the fingers with innervation. So this is where the problems start. The phalanx maneuver

basically consists of fully flexing the wrist like this and then simply waiting until symptoms appear.

By lightly tapping a little bit more proximally to the transverse carpal ligament we might be able

to affect the median nerve and if the patient suffers from carpal tunnel syndrome he might

experience paresthesia.

Bone Fractures – Location

The importance of location of bone fracture

I will explain 6 things that really matter when it comes to treating bone fractures.

Things that have a long term impact on how well the bones will heal.

So the first thing that really matters is where anatomically the fracture actually took

place.

An adult human body contains 206 bones and these bones can be small, big, short, long

and even flat such as the scapula, that is, the shoulder blade.

Bone Fractures Treatment – Six Criteria

harrissymptomsky · June 26, 2023 · Leave a Comment

Ways to treat bone fractures

Bone fractures are something that we can treat successfully most of the time.

So the six things that truly matter when it comes to bone fractures

are the anatomical position of the bone fracture, that is where the fracture actually took place.

Furthermore, the question whether fragments are present is important,

and if the fracture also involves joint surfaces, then we have to know the pattern of the fracture,

which in this case would be the transverse pattern of the fracture. Also, a displacement of the

fractured bone is important, and soft tissue involvement where arteries and nerves can be

damaged, or if the skin is damaged, we might be dealing with an open fracture, which can easily be

infected.
