Abdominal Pulsations Could Mean a Dangerous Condition – Aneurysm Types USMLE 1

This part of the aorta is the thoracic aorta because it is in the thorax of the human body.

So this aneurysm is a thoracic aortic aneurysm, because it is enclosed by the thoracic wall.

Its pulsation can normally not be noticed from the outside.

If an aneurysm develops in the abdominal aorta, the patients often report

that they can palpate a pulsating mass in their abdomen.

Now a wall in the area of an abdomen can become so weak that it ruptures

and then it can cause bleeding that ultimately leads to death.

INFRASPINATUS – Shoulder Pain Medical Test

What is infraspinatus? Explained in this video!

Pain in your shoulder can be a truly limiting factor in your life but where

does the pain usually happen? So once this muscle contracts it normally

performs the external rotation of the arm. That is basically this movement but

you know it’s really hard for someone to hold you like this and then tell you to

rotate your arm externally. How can you oppose this rotation? Well that’s

why you should flex your arms and the elbows like this and then try to

externally rotate the arm and the examiner can then oppose that movement

and prevent you from doing so. A pain or weakness during this examination would

indicate a possible injury of the infraspinatus muscle or its tendon.

Pain In Your Shoulder? Medical Empty Can Test

harrissymptomsky · August 9, 2023 · Leave a Comment

How to check your shoulder pain

Pain in your shoulder can be a truly limiting factor in your life.

But where does the pain usually happen?

We can perform clinical examination tests and there are two examinations I would like

to highlight.

So normally this muscle, once it contracts, would abduct the humerus.

Therefore it would cause the movement like this.

That’s why if we want to test this muscle, the patient is required to elevate his arms

like this and point his thumbs downwards as if he is trying to empty a can.

And then the examiner will apply pressure from above and try to bring his arms down.

The patient is required to perform an opposite movement and try to bring his arms up.

Cycling Damages Nerves – Easy Test For Wrist Pain

harrissymptomsky · August 8, 2023 · Leave a Comment

How to check if your nerve is damaged

And while many cyclists already know that that way they can damage

the pudendal nerve that innervates important organs such as the penis and vagina,

not many cyclists know that they could also injure nerves in their hands.

The ulnar nerve, the nerve that innervates the hand, fingers, but also muscles,

can be injured in cyclists because of the way we hold the handlebars.

So a skilled clinician should be able to perform this

Tenel’s sign provocative test and basically it consists of finding where the nerve is

and then tapping the nerve and if the patient experience is tingling, that is paresthesia,

well then the test is positive.
