Signs of Cough and Dyspnea Caused by Lung Cancer!

Differential diagnosis cough and shortness

Cough and shortness of breath (Dyspnea) can be caused by different conditions but one of the most dangerous conditions that have symptoms like these in more severe form is lung cancer.
There are many types of lung cancer, for example small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), Adenocarcinoma (AC), Squamous cell carcinoma (SSC), and LCC.
Let’s explain the indication, signs and symptoms of these types.
The most aggressive lung cancer (SCLC) which appears more centrally contains small blue cells upon histological examination. SCLC produces a hormone called ACTH which stimulates the Adrenal glands to produce symptoms like cushing syndrome including weight gain, increased Abdominal and around the neck fat, and the growth of facial hair even in females. So the presence of cushing syndrome symptoms with severe cough and dyspnea is a clear indication of SCLC.
Other cancers like Adenocarcinoma (AC) are less aggressive with different signs along with cough and dyspnea. One of the most important signs is clubbing of fingers, gynecomastia (enlargement of breast).
Invasion is the most dangerous stage of cancer. It can be indicated by bone pain (cancer spread to bones), headache, confusion and dizziness (spread to brain).
Recognizing cancer by these symptoms can help us plan therapy better.
