When a body starts producing abnormal levels of parathyroid hormone, especially lower levels, this condition is known as hypoparathyroidism. Parathyroid hormone is a key factor in regulating the two minerals in our body, namely calcium and phosphorus. Due to the disruption in hormone levels, the body produces abnormal levels of calcium and phosphorus, which ultimately leads to other complications.
Usually, the lower level of calcium in the body is the main symptom of hypoparathyroidism while the other symptoms which include fatigue, joint pain, dry skin etc.
Due to the malfunction in the parathyroid gland and the abnormal production of parathyroid hormone, which ultimately affects calcium levels, causing bones to become weak. There are many other complications that come with this disorder.
