Hiccups are repetitive, involuntary contractions of the diagarm muscles. The diaphragm is the structure beneath our lungs that plays an important role in our breathing process. The arrhythmic contraction of the diaphragm produces the hiccups.
There are numerous causes of hiccups including alcohol consumption, overeating, spicy food, beverage consumption like soda, temperature changes, etc.
